The Key to Changing Habits
Habits are necessary in life, especially in movement, and they come from experience. Things like how you move, your posture, and the way you sit up can be looked at like habits! People often ask why Feldenkrais is so effective at changing habits, and here, I’d like to offer a key.
The key? Making the invisible visible.
This is done by going slowly and using less effort so you can sense what you are doing. That’s one advantage to working with a practitioner. Through my hands and my second awareness, I support you in making the invisible visible. Using touch that speaks in the language of movement, I support you to feel and notice habits. Often that noticing is so subtle it happens in the space between feeling and thinking. That ability to have awareness and notice a change in the moment, on a feeling level, not just mentally, is a key to change.
Making the invisible visible, in experience.
